For decades Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy (NVNA) has been training specialists and leaders for the Bulgarian Navy. Widely known as Maritime School, the Naval Academy is the oldest technical educational institution in Bulgaria. Nowadays, with years of history and modern teaching practices, the higher school is providing world-class tetriary education in the fields of National security, Defense, Maritime technologies and Business. The academy has huge impact on the establishment of the Bulgarian maritime industry. Furthermore, throughout the years, it has become a symbol of the country in the world maritime communities.
NVNA is divided into three main units – Faculty of Navigation, Faculty of Engineering and Postgraduate Studies Department (PGSD). Amongst the modern facilities the academy has are a plotting simulator, a ‘Navi-trainer professional 3000’ multipurpose simulator, a planetarium, a R&D laboratory for practical navigation, a special lab for magnetic deviation and many more. Fully accredited, the Maritime School offers different international exchanges and affordable programmes in English.
