Pleven Medical University was founded in 1974 and was the first Bulgarian university to introduce a programme in Medicine completely in English. Since then, the Medical University of Pleven has been persistently trying to reach upper positions in the world of international universities. Therefore, in 2006 – 2007, the institution started offering preparatory courses in English thus supporting all foreign students coming from non-English speaking countries and wishing to pursue a career in medicine.
Nowadays, with its affordable tuition fees and with the low living expenses in the city, the Medical University of Pleven welcomes hundreds of students and guides them through the beginning of their medical journey. Through hands-on practices and internships, the study programmes help the students to learn how to treat patients, react in all kinds of situations and use the knowledge they obtained during the first years of their studies.
The institution is divided into a Faculty of Medicine, a Faculty of Pharmacy, a Faculty of Public Health, a Faculty of Health Care, a Medical College and a Department of Language and Specialized Training.
