Burgas Free University (BFU) opened its doors in 1991 and is one of the most modernized higher education institutions in Bulgaria. Fully accredited, BFU is an official member of the European Universities Association (EUA) and participates in numerous international projects with over 100 other universities and business organizations. The focus of education are the Legal, Economic, Computer and Technical Sciences.
BFU aims ‘to be a flexible, enterprising and socially responsible institution, which provides training of undergraduates and graduates with skills for quick professional realization and a career in a dynamic and globalizing environment.’ The university has a proactive approach to inspire its students to develop their professional skills, gather valuable knowledge and take part in various international exchages and practices.
Burgas Free University is divided into four faculties – Faculty of Legal Studies, Faculty of Business Studies, Faculty of Humanities and Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering. The institution welcomes all Bulgarian and international students to apply via extrance examinations. Nonetheless, the official admission rate range is around 50% which guarantees that the selection process is thoroughly and precisely executed. All foreign students can either start with a foundation year or apply for one of the master programmes taught in English.

The university is located in the picturesque city of Burgas – one of the most famous places on the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast. Very close to it are many of the sea resorts and cities such as Sunny Beach, Nessebar, Sozopol etc. One can easily travel to and from Burgas due to the fact that it has an international airport, a port, a train and and a bus station. Moreover, there are many intesting historical spots, music festivals, beach restaurants and bars. Simply put, Burgas is an affordable and charming marine city that people love to visit and live in.
